Nice weather we're having

I went out last night and had two cocktails. Two measly cocktails of Baileys, vodka and kahlua. And I was sick; I had a hangover today; I'm getting old, you guys. :(

Not drinking all week and then doing that to myself probably had something to do with it, admittedly.

Anyway, the hangover was nothing compared to the annoying, terrifying gales that started up in the early hours of the morning. Lanterns, chairs and plants were hurled across the terrace while the winds raged outside. I refused to get up this morning because I hate the depressing sound of the screaming wind and it was scary. I kept meaning to get up and close the shutters because the winds were that fierce that something really could have come through the door in my room which leads to the terrace. Stupidly, laziness won out.

Anyway, much later, when it had all died down, I switched on the internets and was shocked to see that those gales had made headline news - and not just on the BBC, but on American and Australian sites, too. It seems that Barcelona was hit much harder than we'd thought -- children had been killed by a collapsing roof at a baseball field and several people crushed beneath collapsing walls and trees. My flatmate ignored the warnings from the met service to stay indoors and went into the city centre. She was shocked to see traffic lights and metro signs felled by the winds. These things don't happen here! What is with all the freakishness, lately? Snow, frost and gales in my Spain? More likely than you think!

It's absurd to see the amount of damage some random winds caused. Apparently, they also hit France and are heading towards Italy now. I'm not sure why Barcelona was hit so bad, but this whole experience validates my sheer laziness in not getting up until the afternoon, y/y?

This is the first I've heard of it but I've been out most of the day and not checking the Weather Channel. FREAKISH is right! Scary and all that other stuff. Sadness for people who were killed/injured.

And if you want your laziness to be validated, let me be the first. haha. You know I kid! Maybe. ;p

This is hysterical. What a weird thing, and its spreading all over Europe. I'm glad you guys didnt sustain too much damage. High winds scare me too, I hate to hear the windows rattling and the idea of them all breaking or the roof falling in *shudders*

I will join you in the lightweight division, drinking wise. I used to be so hardcore and I am so not anymore.

Gosh I had no idea it was so bad. There are people from my work on a jolly in Barcelona this weekend so I guess it wasn't so jolly for them after all!

Wind makes me crazy. We have a tremedous amount of it anymore and it's so distructive. We were without power I don't know how many times in the past year because of it.

Wow.

Yes, I believe this validates you.

I wondered how you were with that wild weather. It has been on all our news stations!

That storm looked absolutely awful. Definitely a good job that you were safely indoors!
