Writer's Block: Long ago and far away

I always think Georgian times would be deeply fascinating, but the reality of life then wouldn't be pleasant. You know how they cured toothache? By sticking a hot needle into the ear. Lovely!

I often imagine what it would be like to live in different times and how I'd be, but for all its many, many faults, the modern age has given me so much opportunity that I'm grateful for it. I also imagine how life would be if I had grown up in different countries. I think I would have been happier in France, Greece or America... then again, I may not. Who knows?

I just daydream and learn about history and travel to other countries for their culture, aided by modern facilities and the monetary, linguistic and geographical benefits of this small island. It's a good compromise.

I don't suppose it comes as any great surprise tto anyone for me to say that I honestly wouldn't have wanted to live anywhere other han Scotland! At a push, Canada perhaps - but then Canada has he highest percentage of ppl of Scots heritage han any other country!!

I have never wanted to go WAY back in time - but would've been fun to be a teenager in the late 50s/60s! So much changed socially and culturally in that short time period. Other than that, I think we'e all blessed to have lived in the 20th Century - such massives changes happened in that century!

However I WOULD like someone to hury up and invent a time machine so I can go back and vist ancient Rome and Egypt!!

Totally agreed!

Oh, I would do anything to be able to wander the streets of ancient Rome or Greece for just one day!
