Writer's Block: Clash of the titans

[Error: unknown template qotd]
This is the greatest writer's block EVER. It's going to cause so much drama.

Anyway, I haven't really had an LJ conflict outside of anonymous communities. I've had a crazy conflict cross over into LJ, where ~dramatic chat logs~ were posted to prove how awful I am, or something. It makes me laugh that I was so upset by it at the time. I think LJ has hardened me to internet!conflict and there's nothing wrong with that.

There was also an amazing one on [livejournal.com profile] bookfails where someone attacked me in CAPS for daring to venture an opinion on The Vampire Lestat when she is apparently the fandom matriarch, which was news to me. I come across her every now and again, screaming at some other hapless fandom member when They Get Facts (that she made up) Wrong. It's fantastic. :D

Since I just now posted that new year meme and mentioned a resolution not to get into wank, it's really wrong that I just clicked over to see all the answers to this...

I'm waiting for the drama to start, this has potential to be delicious.

And you should know fanfic is serious bizness.

I've had a couple of big beefs on LJ, never started by me, and one even lost me someone I thought was a good friend (but obviously wasnt). This place can get nasty and people's claws can really come out. The crazy part is its usually about the most ridiculous stuff on the planet like fandom and such.

Things that are supposed to be fun quickly escalate to unbearable with the tapping of some keys. But that's the problem with the web, all you need is a computer to get in.

Seriously. Someone's just broken out the 'U Mad' gifs!

I never know anyone could get so irrationally angry over fandom. Well, okay, I did. But that's something that happens in other fandoms, not mine. I thought.

Drama? In my fandom? More likely than you'd think!

Definitely better to be giggling from the sidelines than involved in it. One answer had me laughing so hard...

And that's exactly it. You just have to take things with a pinch of salt on LJ. Especially when people are wishing death on each other because of shipping wars and stuff. Insanity.

I fell very old now because I remember fondly the late 90s where the veterans on the goth boards were writing lengthy posts explaining the netiquette to newbies, and how the netiquette was a fundamental pillar of this wonderful, civlised thing that is the Internet! :D

Nobody even know the word 'netiquette' anymore these days, everything is going down the drain, my good Madam, etc. etc.

You should check out ljdrama.org. It's pretty mind-boggling.

she is apparently the fandom matriarch...

Apparently she didn't know that we roll OLD SKOOL! If she ever gets on to you again, tell her that she wasn't around back in the day and doesn't know squat! X-D

Edit: Darn. LJ Drama seems to have disappeared...

Who might this be? *curious*

I miss netiquette. I miss manners in general on and offline; no one seems to have them anymore. *wail*

I demand links!

You may remember - she was apparently on the old mailing list and has the biggest hateboner for [livejournal.com profile] silverthoughts possible and was ranting about that? Then someone else came in and said they remembered her as a troublemaker who messed Silver around, etc. She didn't reply to that.

My crime was to agree with her about the book! I was touched by the irrational abuse I received in reply.

She's also on IMDB and likes to scream at anyone who ventures an opinion on the movies. And sends letters of abuse to Stuart Townsend. No, really.

Haha, yes. That's what was doubly annoying. We survived many a Mary Sue at Rotoli. Just because I was very young (oh God, may I never see those fics I wrote as a teenager again) doesn't mean I wasn't there! :p

Hee! The internet has got much more badass. Awful, whichevs.
