Yeah, it is nerve-wracking.

Querying is hard. I have actually sent a short story to a publisher but they have yet to respond save for a "we received it" and that was in October. If they don't do anything by February, I'll probably find somewhere else to send it. (Thee same story was nicely rejected elsewhere for being 200 words too short - I misread the guidelines because I am an idiot)

I feel more okay sending stuff out because I feel like if it's accepted, it's validation that it's not actually total shit, where as if I just post stuff on my blog, I tend to panic and take it down a week later. But then I'm a neurotic mess. This is why I could never self-publish.

I hope your friend colleague likes your story! (I can read. Seriously. I do it all of the time.)
