Something That Happened

So, the election. Sarah Palin won't be telling the world what to do or going seal-hunting with Sarkozy. Phew. 99% of Americans on my flist have talked about the changes the win should bring about, so there's little more to say but that I'm glad that Obama's proposed foreign policy is to be more hands-on in the Middle East (particularly with Saudi Arabia), and that he says he will adopt a more European approach to global warming with a cap on emissions. I miss the days when we were allies and not renaming chips or marching on London to try and stop illegal wars. ;_;

Anyway, The Guardian had an awesome article today, buried beneath all the political rhetoric: they challenged readers to redesign classic books for the dumbed-down markets...

Perfect. Their next challenge should be to redesign mangled 'chicklit' covers to reflect the actual content of the novel.

LOTR and The Brothers Karamazov are pretty awesome, but most of the others seem to have missed the point? I don't know.

Anyway I want Obama and Kevin Rudd to be BFF and have playdates at the White House.

Yeah, a lot of people have just satirised the titles... nice idea, though. Loved Tom Sawyer.

So, that Tale of Two Cities. That's really clever, huh?

Funniest.Thing.Ever.

The Obama thing I mean, ha...I'm being surreal. Ignore.
