Etc.

Today the weather defied its grey and murky habit of the week to give way to clear blue skies and intense sunshine. Glasgow was transformed by the sunlight-- blossoms on the trees, birds singing, the gentle lull of the lawnmower-- and various other summery nonsense.

Hence, a visit to the dramatic Scottish countryside was in order. We took in the picturesque town of Callender, the lochs en-route, the beautiful rolling hills of evergreen trees.

The highlight of the day, though, was a visit to castle Doune, just north of Glasgow. A castle is something of a spectacle, of course, but the very best part was this exchange:

Tour guide: It's £3.00 to get in... and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. You can learn about the history in the first room--

Becky: Good, good.

Tour guide: ... and do you know about the Monty Python thing?

Becky: Huh?

Tour guide: See that book over there... they filmed Monty Python and the Holy Grail in this castle.

Fetchez la Vache!

So, like, there was all this really cool history and stuff, all this wonderful architecture-- and I just had to race up to the top of the stairs and declare from the battlements, "Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!"

That, believe it or not, made my bloody day.
