The Friday Five, ganked from gairid.
1. What is the oldest object in the room with you?
Er, well the room's pretty old itself, but I'll go with my 1888 copy of Shakespearean sonnets. It used to belong to a Nellie Grey studying at Oxford at the turn of the 20th century. And now it's mine. Muhahhaa. I have a little jewellery box once owned by some French Marquise, but it's impossible to date it, so I'll go with the book.
2. What is the newest?
Oh, the card Sally gave me today.
3. What is your favourite object in the room with you?
This dog-eared little book I have, with bite-marks in places, called Little Owl's Favourite Uncle. It was a present to me from my mother when I was four years old, for the Christmas of 1985. I was obsessed with it as a child. I used to get her to draw the characters for me, and I would read it aloud, proud to know the meaning of "pirate" and such. Inside the front cover, I've tried to write my name in joined-up handwriting, and failed miserably. It's just brilliant. I found it again about a year or so ago when I was helping clean out the attic and came across it again. Dozens of memories were ignited at the sight of it, and it's a link to the old me.
4. What is the most valuable object?
An original animation cel I was given by an Australian guy years ago. This computer is too tempremental to be worth much. >:
5. What is the ugliest object?
An ugly ornament of a fish thing that totally bespoils the Continental flavour of the room. Fish aren't the prettiest of animals, are they? This thing is supposed to be a monkfish, or some other aquatic horror. My poor Venetian sun and moon mask is far too close to such ugliness, but I have no idea where to put fish!ornament.
