May. 31st, 2008 12:32 pmHannah returned from Bristol last night. It was really good to catch up on things - we went out for a meal and ended up being happy drunk and British in one of the Montcada open-air restaurants. The people around us kept glaring because we were, you know, laughing and happy, but that's this village for you. Aww.
Anyway, so we have a load of new people at work. For some unknown reason, the slowest and dopiest of the old team is training the slowest and dopiest of the new hires. Conversation yesterday:
Trainer: ...And now we have to process this form. "Mr. ___ has raised a grievance against __ "
Trainee: Grievance... what's that?
Trainer: Well, uh. This is, erm. Oh, yeah! It's a form for when a person has lost a family member and they have to write to HR to confirm that they've been off for the funeral and all that.
Trainee: Ah, of course.
Really, Vicky and I should have stepped in, but it would have just humiliated the guy and besides, we were too dumbstruck. :p
