WWSD

So Anne Rice gave yet another interview about Being Duped by the Christian Church and Rejecting it in The Guardian, telling us the same things she has been talking about for several months now. This time, however, she's also obsessing over Atlantis. Colour me disappointed.

The only real compensation for this tiresome saga is the fact that the interview appears in a paper with the most wonderfully trollish readership I've ever seen. I love the comments on the entry, even if they do inevitably devolve into religious backbiting. (Christians are terrible! No, everyone else is)!

'But,' asked [livejournal.com profile] mothergoddamn, still pondering yesterday's Lion King characters mourn modern history art post, 'what does Simba think about Anne Rice's leaving the church?'

Well, I'm glad you asked.* Because this is how Simba feels:

Oh, Anne. How could you? ;_;

*Don't judge me. Ever tried drawing on a laptop sans mouse, in Paint?

Simba should be hurling.

Or licking blood from -- no, no. That's too extreme even for me. Bleurgh!

Poor Simba :(
I was very amused by the "she hates editing" thing, one wouldn't have guessed from all the wtf found in her assorted books that she can't take any editing tips on her life D:
And the fact that she lashed out at people saying Blood Canticle was shit on Amazon: priceless.
And oh, yes. The big chasm of Anne Rice and the Catholic Church. Also known as The Neverending Story. Also known as "hey, give me attention for my awesome rebelliousness, by the way, did I mention I'm too amazing for editing?"

Simba feels the weight of the world (and Anne's RAEG) on his little leonine shoulders.

Yeah, I'm going crazy over the endless, endless rants on the church. PEOPLE LEAVE ORGANISED RELIGION EVERY DAY. And I don't feel so much that she's a rebel as a dimwit -- she rejoined the Catholic church without knowing their stance on abortion, gays etc. and then was shocked by it years later? [/facepalm]

Also! She calls Catholics People of the Pews now. You wish I was making this up.

lol! you pretty well sums up my non-opinion on this non-issue ... :p

I fear that this latest Atlantis comment, along with the nattering she's done about it on her FB (or so I seem to recall from the posts of others), means she's likely to endeavor on some fictional account of life on Atlantis.

All I have to say is that she had better not involve any of our vamps. She's put them through enough already, for God's sake.

I think the Atlantis thing (I agree that she'll probably right some godawful book about it soon) sounds painfully bad. I bet angels come and take the people away, or something. Also, I LOLed forever at her stating Atlantis as fact: 'predating Atlantis'. lolwut.

I too hope the vampires are spared this latest humiliation.
