I'm Hatin' It

Spent a most excellent weekend with pigeonqueen [livejournal.com profile] jaffacakequeen, with wine and chilling and kamikaze cups of tea.

Annoyingly, she looked absolutely marvellous. Against the wine and jaffa cake gods, she has stuck to her diet and exercise regime and her newly svelte look paid off the WeightWatchers wine and the icky healthy stuff.

She also had one of those devilish little pedometers, for marking how many steps one has taken in a day and how many calories have been burned off. It was actually quite good, despite the instructions written in Engrish. I had to have one.

Herein is the rub: evil damned McDonalds advertisement came on TV on Sunday night. Whilst Justin Timberlake inanely warbled "I'm lovin' it", they ran their cardboard food and animal fat milkshakes. "And like wow!" screeched the faux American voice, "You get a free stepometer!"

Let's ignore the bastardisation of ped to step and back up. Free pedometers. At McDonalds. Why do you mock me, Lord!

Unfortunately, I gave in and went to The Bad Place yesterday. Bought a horrible "meal" of soggy "McFries"(chips) and cardboard "McSalmonella" (plastic chicken sandwich) and "McMeng" (Sprite).

On the bright side, I have me a pedometer. I have taken 1,054 steps today, you'll be pleased to know. Only another 8,946 to go.

Then again, The Guardian reveals you have to walk 9.5 miles to walk off the calories from a Big Mac Meal.

McSigh.

Here in the US, the pedometers come with their new healthy meals, which are a bottle of water and a salad + pedometer.

Dammit! I would have preferred that! >:

The worst thing is that the meal advertised salad, but I was only given a chicken burger instead. *glares at McWorker*

Am drowning in McIrony.

I swear British McDonalds are the worst, though... like in mainland Europe, they have like mayonnaise with chives and beer... America has them there yummy breakfast things!

Damn them.

The pedometer rocks, though. ;-)
