It's not so much Christmas itself that I find grating, it's the overwhelming pressure it seems to put on people to "enjoy" themselves, as if you can't do that the rest of the year. I'm totally confused why people put so much importance on it and New Years Eve. It's just another part of the year except, being totally cynical here that the people at work or in life who are absolute bastards to you most of the year suddenly go saccharine on you, but swiftly revert to true form a week or two into January.
