That Sun Thing...

Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow.

Question: why do the British go insane at the slightest hint of sun? Why did my friends, family and I feel it was such a good idea to sit outside in that baking hot sun wearing that lethal tanning oil?

WHY when my skin is pale and sensitive and all English rose-y? Am lobster, yo.

My life iz ruined oh noes, etc.

Because... you are... stupid. :D

Never wear tanning oil again, Becky, or you will need your nose cut off in ten years' time. I'm not kidding.

Maybe it's a British desire to validate Noel Coward's song about "Mad Dogs and Englishman going out in the noon day sun" while more sensible people cover up, stay in the shade and wear sunscreen. *Memories of English lobsters (tourists) frying themselves on the boat going down the Nile come to mind*

one of my favorite quotes from a crap movie...Selma Hayek and Matthew Perry in "Fools Rush In"

as all 4 parents are meeting on a yacht in the blearing sun of las vegas, the white mother wearily exclaims with margarita in hand...

"...cant you see the white people are melting out here?"

People around here go insane when the sun first shows itself too--it's that six/seven months of snow and clouds, and the fact it could still start snowing again any second, so sun must be enjoyed while it lasts. My fair redheaded sister starts attempting to get herself tan this time every year, and burns herself lobster red, then as soon as she peels and heals, is back out in the sun.

I've been avoiding baking myself in the sun so far, but mostly only because whenever I have time off work, it rains, or snows. Cornstarch is good for sunburns, just pat a little on like baby powder. It's an old family rememdy, and I can personally attest to its effectiveness.

I like the redhair. I've been thinking of going red myself lately. My mother is pressuring me to just let my natural hair grow out, how boring! Do you find people react differently to you when you change your haircolor?
