Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow.

Question: why do the British go insane at the slightest hint of sun? Why did my friends, family and I feel it was such a good idea to sit outside in that baking hot sun wearing that lethal tanning oil?

WHY when my skin is pale and sensitive and all English rose-y? Am lobster, yo.

My life iz ruined oh noes, etc.

I'm going to be a red monstrosity! WAAH!

(And all that nonsense.)

I thought about going blonde. For about five seconds... I guess it's going to be "chestnut", according to this L'Oreal kit.

OMG I love your icon! ROFL!

Enough so that I don't have to look like Fizz off Coronation Street... ;)

OMG! Now it's Holy Grail! <3

Aww, thanks! Erm...Astoria...er...kiria...er... *hits the Greek books again*

What are you writing about? Fizz's hair is fabulous darling!

Oh there's more Holy Grail where that came from ;)

Don't hit them too hard, I hear books have feelings. See: The Pagemaster, for proof.

More Python! <3 <3

Well, I suppose it's not too bad. Here's a picture of me in Manchester yesterday:

Fiz!Beck

The Pagemaster sucked. He wasn't as cool as that evil book from The Care Bears movie. Now, that book knew how to kick ass!

(Much like this Greek phrasebook. With the writing in Greek alphabet so you have to spend the first ten minutes remembering what all the letters stand for in the Latin alphabet. Malakas!)

OMG! Who are you sat with? My that's one good looking chap at your side.

But Pagemaster had like Christopher Lloyd in it.. The Doc Droopy! The Doc! :D

Did you go to Uni to learn those languages? I know a priest who thinks you did.. It's all rather gwych.

The things I learned at uni involved stuff like alcohol, canon, arguments with my French teacher about the correct way to say "German Shepherd" en francais, not to run down a steep hill in Preston in period clothing when it's icy and that I really hate a lot of plays.

But no Greek, alas. :(

You know what? I'm happy. >:)

How a fetching Rebness you are! Or should I call you Redness from hence on?...

I've spent quite some time in the sun (for my doing, that is), without sunblock, and am even getting a tan. And freckles too! :)
If the wind is a bit softer today, I'll strap under my skates again!...

Eek! To clarify-- that's not me in the picture! =:-O

That's Fiz off Coronation Street. My hair was getting towards ginger.

Europe's been pretty fine lately. Hope it stays that way. :D

With hair like Fizz's that looks like she has Medussa's snakes on top Greece is the perfect place to holiday in.

That film was a dissapointment. I left the theatre hoping that my books would suddenly start talking to me and literally bring me into their world but alas they continued to exude a quiet silence (as oposed to the loud ilences one often gets). And even when I went to the public library just in case only books in a library talk I was told to leave because apparently you are not supposed to throw the books up. Silly old bat of a livrarian did not understand I wanted to see if it would fly.

Librarians- no imaginations! I bet they aren't fans of Natasha Bedingfield's shelf climbing books either.

Because... you are... stupid. :D

Never wear tanning oil again, Becky, or you will need your nose cut off in ten years' time. I'm not kidding.

Maybe it's a British desire to validate Noel Coward's song about "Mad Dogs and Englishman going out in the noon day sun" while more sensible people cover up, stay in the shade and wear sunscreen. *Memories of English lobsters (tourists) frying themselves on the boat going down the Nile come to mind*

It's so very, very true. And we never learn! Year on year, we come back from Egypt or Spain or Australia or Greece, red and sore. Vow we won't do it again... until next summer.

I think it's a madness brought on by six months of overcast skies. ;)

one of my favorite quotes from a crap movie...Selma Hayek and Matthew Perry in "Fools Rush In"

as all 4 parents are meeting on a yacht in the blearing sun of las vegas, the white mother wearily exclaims with margarita in hand...

"...cant you see the white people are melting out here?"

People around here go insane when the sun first shows itself too--it's that six/seven months of snow and clouds, and the fact it could still start snowing again any second, so sun must be enjoyed while it lasts. My fair redheaded sister starts attempting to get herself tan this time every year, and burns herself lobster red, then as soon as she peels and heals, is back out in the sun.

I've been avoiding baking myself in the sun so far, but mostly only because whenever I have time off work, it rains, or snows. Cornstarch is good for sunburns, just pat a little on like baby powder. It's an old family rememdy, and I can personally attest to its effectiveness.

I like the redhair. I've been thinking of going red myself lately. My mother is pressuring me to just let my natural hair grow out, how boring! Do you find people react differently to you when you change your haircolor?

Date: 2005-05-17 07:15 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rebness.livejournal.com
Oh, people definitely react to me differently. If I'm red they seem to think I'm all vibrant and fun-loving, brown they ignore, black they assume "Goth" and I don't know about blonde... never tried it.

What colour is your hair naturally?

Date: 2005-05-19 02:08 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] jadedscorpion.livejournal.com
Naturally? I don't remember....:D It's blondish brown, the amount of blonde depending on how much sun I get. My mom calls it ash blonde. It was true blonde until I hit high school, when blonde hair would be useful, and then it suddenly turned dark and curly. Such is my life.

It's weird how much people judge you by superficial things like hair color. Especially men. Stupid men.
