Just when you thought Tom Cruise couldn't get any more cheesy, he proposes to Katie Holmes at the top of the Eiffel Tower. And then raves about this wonderfully unique gesture that totally doesn't appear in tacky programmes *coughHollyoakscough* and Jackie Collins novels every five minutes.

He should also perhaps consider learning some more adjectives:

"Today is a magnificent day for me," he said, "I'm engaged to a magnificent woman."

It's Oprah fromage all over again, but now the European media is saturated with it. Gee, thanks, Tom.

Ergh. What the hell is going on with him, anyway? You're in love, fine, yes, wonderful, but you know, Tom, trying to keep a scrap or two of dignity might be a good idea.

I think he'll look back on this in a few years' time and wonder what the hell he was thinking. Well, that or he'll just go worse.
