The Writing's on the Wall. Because I spilled ink all down it.

Another poll? So soon? Sacrilege!

However, though this poll revolves around walls, no cats shall be harmed in its making.

I remarked to [livejournal.com profile] saffronlie that "creative" or even smart people tend to be completely accident-prone with poor body-steering ability. Specifically, we have a tendency to walk into walls, fall down stairs *ahem* and generally trip up like the LJ-contributing dorks we are.

[livejournal.com profile] zhonghua2000 and [livejournal.com profile] avariecaita both confess to autowallcolliding. Let's test this theory out:

[Poll #583688]

I stub and break my toe at least once a year. My hubby's had a good dork-year. He fell off a stage and broke his wrist. He's also bent over and split his pants. On stage. At Carnegie Hall.

Erk! How did he live it down?!

[identity profile] versailles-rose.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
He was facing the audience and his suit jacket covered his bum. He was lucky!

Anyway I've never really hurt myself but I am kind of clumsy.

First of all I have a recurring problem which involves not walking through doors properly. Doorframes are my nemesis.

Secondly my feet often decide they don't want to walk properly and if I'm not paying attention or something distracts me I'll end up staggering about like some drunkard. But this *never* happens when I'm actually drunk. Odd.

Dorky moment...ah...in high school we had to do a dance to a spice girls song (the horror!) and I tried to do a Mel C type kick and landed on my backside. That was pretty embarassing.

I swear door frames reposition themselves as you walk through. My hips are generally covered in bruises a lot of the time.

Good one Becky! I put myself into the middle dork category because although I have a regular tendency to trip, bang into walls, counters, people, oh just abou everything along with spilling drinks on a regular basis (like today for example) I never really hurt myself. Oh yes, touching the iron to make sure it's hot (D'OH!) does hurt but doesn't require emergency treatment and I usually stop cutting my finger(s) when I see the blood I know shouldn't be coming from the celery I am chopping. LOL!!! I probably walk around sort of looking like the icon I am presenting to you now. heee!

I'm really paranoid when chopping food ever since I read in Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential that the majority of chefs have chopped into their fingers. That's so something I'd do.

Last night I was cooking flapjacks and seared my finger good. I never knew burns could hurt so much long after the hot is taken away. :( My poor flesh!

Have you ever fallen 'up' the stairs? I do that ... often. :D And I'd like to blame my running into walls on some inner ear problem because, man, I can see the wall ... approaching a solid wall ... steer clear! steer clear! ... *WHAM* right into the wall. One of the corners has lost a vast amount of paint because I can't seem to walk around it. >:)

[identity profile] rebness.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I always fall up the stairs. It's right painful! Er, as you know. Walls are just... I dunt know why we have this problem. Is very strange.

I was spoilt for choice with my dorky moments.

Another classic episode was when I was in a pub and I apologised for bumping into this lady. Then I realised I'd actually walked straight into a mirror and was actually apologising to myself!

[identity profile] rebness.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
LMAO! I hope nobody was around when you did it! XD

[identity profile] ladydaydream.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Alas yes. The pub was packed full of work colleagues at the time!

YET SOMEHOW I am quite a graceful dancer. And I'm fine when performing onstage. And I do quite well at yoga, and general sports-like activities. Clearly I need to take the dance mindset over to everyday tasks. Or something.

That's strange, that. It's definitely something to do with our minds being preoccupied with different ways to chop up Wordsworth or summat.
