So I gave up on watching Bobby. It was all story story story story story story  footage of Kennedy story story and I was like, "I'm going to bed now." It's a pity, because it has a very strong cast (or at least Christian Slater, William H Macy and Elijah Wood to combat the Lohan/Moore menace) and it may in fact be a very good film, but my concentration was all over the place last night. Eh.

Also, I finally kicked myself into gear and booked my apartment for Montreal. The guy who replied to my reservation e-mail was all "The key is with my neighbour. If you wish, you may contact im and ask im questions." I now imagine him to speak with a Monty Python and the Holy Grail-esque comedy accent.

Just don't expect view of the Sydney Opera House. *g*

When are you going to Montreal? If it is in winter you will be spending a lot of time underground. There are miles and miles of underground tunnels in the CBD connecting all the shopping centres. No one walks around above ground in winter if they can avoid it. I was only there on a blustery and (for me) a very cold June week. It was close to snowing on some days. Stayed at a BB ran by this couple out in the inner suburbs. The transport system around the place was good.

Are you going up to Quebec City as well. Much more historical and more fiercely French speaking. The home of the Quebecois.

I'll be there at the end of March, so, yeah, I'm going to prepare to wrap up warm. It's a bit mad, because I despise the cold. Heehee. I'm staying right in the heart of vieux Montreal, but I confess the idea of speaking Canadian French scares me a little. It seems to differ so much from European French... how did you find it?

I am planning to take a trip out, yeah. I was considering Niagra Falls, then I looked up exactly how long that journey was and abandoned that idea. (Europeans just can't grasp great distances. LOL!) I was thinking of visiting Trois-Rivieres or whatever, but if you recommend Quebec city and it does have more of a French feel, I'm definitely going. Well, as long as I don't get snowed in. ;)

Yes I would really recommend it. You could catch the train from Montreal to Quebec City, it is not that far, well by Australian and Canadian reckoning of distances. Stay a few days. I know I stayed in a reasonably central hotel. Small but nice and not that expensive, but it was a while ago. It was in the old part of the town and I think it was called La Maison Demers.

Good stuff! Thanks for the recommendations - it at least gives me more incentive to travel out a bit further.

Truly, though, it's hard to trust someone who types out their accent.
