Wow, but that may just be the first Christmas in the past ten years where I haven't ended the day feeling bitter and as if I should just get me a machine gun. Everyone just had such a lovely time-- the roast dinner was perfect, the gifts were great, and it was so nice to see the extended family. Granted, we received help from the twin powers of Little Britain and Doctor Who, but I'm actually sad to see the day go.

Now, as for Doctor Who. Well! Even I, Tennant!fan, was worried at how he'd fill Christopher Ecceleston's nifty leather jacket. I won't spoil it for international fans who won't have seen the Christmas Special yet, but it was so funny and so jolly that my entire family were in stitches. (It's the one programme we'll all watch together, and with good reason.) Also, the episode confirms what we British have known for centuries: there is nothing in the world like tea in a traumatic situation. It makes me wonder if Russell T. Davies had been reading on the internets about the nation turning to tea in the aftermath of the London bombings-- after all, the episode was very, very topical, with more overt anti-war themes and, um. The Lion King. Davies and Tennant make a great team, and I absolutely cannot wait for the new series.

Boxing Day thus far has just been all about relaxation. I didn't get up till after twelve (yeahIknow), but I've made up for it by making sushi for the family, experimenting with wasabi and lime flavouring and such, alongside enjoying herbal tea in the very fine arty cup [livejournal.com profile] jaffacakequeen bought me.

Now I'm off to have me some turkey curry and try to finish this bleedin' book.
