Surprise OMG
Jan. 25th, 2008 07:34 pmEVERYTHING IS BLOCKED IN WORK. Facebook, Livejournal, The Guardian, EVERYTHING. I have had to work for the past two days and don't know how I'm going to cope. ;_;
In awesome haps, my flatmate is away in Budapest next week, the week of the big twenty-seven sadness. She said that to make up for it that we could have a little meal at an Indian place she wanted to try. Yesterday, in work, my colleagues were all, "So, what are you doing tonight?" and I was all, "Oh, you know. Just a quiet meal because Hannah won't be here for my birthday blah blah blah..."
We went to Gracia last night and Hannah was being all horrid. Really rubbing it in; "I can't believe nobody wanted to come for your early birthday party. It's such a shame. I'm sorry we couldn't do something a bit better."
I traipsed alongside her, all, "Gee, thanks."
To compound the snub, she said that our mutual friend Anthony was in a Mexican restaurant nearby and she just wanted to 'pop in to say hello', so I agreed to do that, though I was really quite bleh now -- the food in the Mexican place smelled gorgeous and also Anthony didn't want to come out with us? That fecker!
That was when we came to the back of the restaurant and half the friggin' people I know in Barcelona were there. My first reaction was intense shock, and then annoyance! They'd sneaked out without me?
YES I AM THAT DENSE
Anyway, after the streamers came out and the shouts of 'Happy Birthday' and then the protracted explanation to my Mexican friends that it wasn't quite my birthday yet, I had an absolutely fabulous night.
avariecaita , you'll be pleased to know that Julio confirmed it was 'proper Mexican food' and not the fake!Spanish kind.
Nobody's ever done something like that for me before. I am touched, people. :D
