Sep. 30th, 2010 12:00 pmI have a dilemma. My host cooks all this amazing food for me and, thankfully, maintained he dislikes Western food.
UNTIL. I cooked a jacket potato.
Okay, this is unfair. I sauteed some potatoes one night with a dash of curry seasoning and he actually grabbed one with a chopstick and ate it. Then he was in awe at my jacket potato and asked if I would please cook for him one night, particularly potatoes.
Okay, so a jacket potato. Fine. Ridiculously, childishly easy. But I need to cook something to go with that. Something healthy-but-delicious and not-too-strange-but-Western. Preferably British, but anything Italian (the only European food he professes to like) or perhaps American. I don't have access to an oven, which throws me because I do most of my cooking with an oven, but I have a stove, a grill and...uh... a microwave.
What can I do with this? I am definitely not cooking fish. I won't get it right, I prefer the Japanese manner of cooking fish anyway. Perhaps beef? Something? I don't know. Help, internets!
