Writer's block: road trip!

Writer's block today asked What is the longest road trip you've been on? How did you pass the time?
Well, maybe I should have tried daring to reply to a writer's block question with pictures, LJ! You ate my post three bloody times! So here's the DIY version.
June/July 2010. Colorado to Kansas to Missouri to Arkansas to Tennessee to Mississippi to Louisiana to Texas to Oklahoma to Colorado. We could only debate giant sharks, literature, sing Beatles songs and get speeding tickets so much. Here's how else we passed the time:
For the first portion of the trip, I mainly gawped out of the car window. I mean, this is way more interesting than the M57 in rain-lashed England, to be honest.
We visited amazing and cheesy roadside attractions. Come to Prairie Dog Town! said one billboard for kilometre after kilometre of road. We paid. This is the world's largest prairie dog. *sideeye*
We talked of all the wonderful places we've been and all the wonderful places we want to go.
We got lost a couple of times, just to add spice to the mix. (This was nothing to do with my reading the map. Nothing at all.)
...And visited increasingly awesome roadside attractions again.
We ate in many different places and tasted many different things...
Made nervous jokes about the chances of our surviving the night in the mother of all rainstorms in Texas (picture: does not do it justice)...
Had the British passenger perplex the American driver with obscure, repeated Tony Christie lyrics...
...And ate corndogs and moonpies and all kinds of nouns run together that totally don't belong together.
The longest road trip of my life thus far and one of the happiest times in my life.
annemariewrites , I love you, bb. We should do this again. But not the alligators. Never again the alligator times. :(

We attended a wine tasting. Or two. Or three.
We got lost a couple of times, just to add spice to the mix. (This was nothing to do with my reading the map. Nothing at all.)
Sang many a song about many a place as we passed or finally arrived at it...
We dropped in on some of the neighbours...
...And visited increasingly awesome roadside attractions again.
...Then hightailed it out of there when some of the locals proved less than friendly.
We ate in many different places and tasted many different things...
