Remember that self-indulgent fic I posted last year, Moving On? You know, set after the events of QotD, Lestat and Louis travelling through Europe and village and castle and angst, etc, etc?
Well, the places in the fic were based on parts of the Massif Central that I travelled through and worked in, hence all the flowery description. I originally intended to post it with some pretteh pictures but, oh, you know... stuff happens. Photos get developed a year later. Eh.
Anyway, so
It's sod's law that I never seemed to have a camera on me when surveying a dramatic landscape or that amazing castle, but I did at least manage to snap some pictures of the town of Ruoms, where Lestat's shouting/maundering experience takes place.
Pretteh approach to pretteh Ruoms.
'Cos it is, right?
The town looking all old and cool. Most of the buildings are in this style, dating back to the 1500/1600s, with fab little plaques detailing their history on a lot of the walls.
Some buildings looking intimidating
And also narrow.
The village was full of somewhat claustrophobic, but cool arches and stuff.
Like this one. Um... most seemed to lead to restaurants or roof top gardens, though. I dunno... it sort of reminds me of the plague. I have no idea why. :-/
The old church.
What this photo cannot show you is the sheer atmosphere of this old stone church. This is the little church Lestat visits in the spec, and it's just beautiful inside. I actually had me a spiritual moment when I first encountered the church-- one door was ajar, and from inside came the most soothing, evocative choir. Which turned out to be a tape recording.
Um...a window.
Alas! The only inside shot of the church that turned out. This was in a part set aside in memory of 'the martyrs of the revolution'. I have no idea.
And now for something completely different.
Like a cemetery. Also, with some of my thumb in the corner.
