Random questions...

1) Dear Americans,

Do they sell those little chocolate Kinder eggs in America?

2) Does anyone remember a cartoon from the late 80s or early 90s, American, about these children who would go to sleep of a night and become super heroes in their dreams? There was a little dinosaur toy that came to life, a boy on a skateboard, a bossy girl... can anyone remember what it was called, because everyone I've asked remembers the cartoon, but not the title.

ETA: The savage [livejournal.com profile] sc1ssors1ster reliably informs me that the cartoon was called Potsworth and Company, after the smarmy dog in it. Yaaz!

3)After my computer was re-programmed following The Great Crash of '05, I've lost my DVD playing program, though of course I still have the actual DVD drive. Does anyone know of a reliable cheap or free driver I could download for Windows Media to play my DVDs, or a DVD playing program?

Also, Doctor Who was fab, as usual. Etc, etc.

I'm telling you - http://www.badwolf.org.uk/index.html is the scariest creepy front page I have ever been to. Dr. Who is seriously excellent, and Capt. Jack deserves to last into the Tennant era.

Ah! [livejournal.com profile] wig_maker just messaged me with that site. It's seriously freaky-- especially if you have your sound right up! I'm really intrigued. She speculated it could be something to do with Mickey. Me, I'm wondering about both Mickey and Captain Jack (agreed on the need for him to be in the Tennant era)!

[identity profile] wig-maker.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! Those missing years could come back to bite him in the arse.. or something. But Mickey was looking really jealousy-ridden and like he could've knocked the Doctor on the heed a couple of times ;)

In other news: Today on Points of View the woman on it said a) Billie is definately in the next series. and b) there's a huge cliffhanger (I think that was the word she used, I was straightening hair at the time) at the end of this series with lots of Daleks OMG! Get me a large couch and tell me when they're not scary anymore :( :p OH! And there's a Christmas special!

[identity profile] wig-maker.livejournal.com 2005-06-04 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I know which cartoon you're on about! But I've spent years trying to remember what it is also!

Ditto to Doctor Who! Er... which you know of already :p

[identity profile] rebness.livejournal.com 2005-06-04 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I swear it's some evil cartoon that sought to wipe our little infant memories!

[identity profile] wig-maker.livejournal.com 2005-06-04 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
We should write into Points of View about it. I'm sure the 10 years or so gap between now and when the show was last on won't make a difference :D

[identity profile] mothergoddamn.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
You could say you're a very slow writer.

[identity profile] diana-molloy.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
that icon scared the living daylights outta me. Only ep that has so far given me the creeps.

[identity profile] wig-maker.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oops sorry! Very creepy episode but that and the Father's Day one are my favourites so far.

[identity profile] diana-molloy.livejournal.com 2005-06-06 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I missed that one myself. Have refused to go anywhere near any message boards to see what happened in the ep's i've not seen though. I'll wait till I can see it on DVD.

What about the one where Eric eats a banana and then becomes Bananaman???

[identity profile] rebness.livejournal.com 2005-06-04 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ever ready for the call to action!"

See, I remember everything about that dorky superhero. :D

[identity profile] mothergoddamn.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 11:38 am (UTC)(link)
Bodger and Badger with the Matthew Modine clone?

[identity profile] rebness.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 11:48 am (UTC)(link)
I hated Bodger and Badger. Half an hour of that and not some sexy cartoon!>:

Er. I'll get my coat.

[identity profile] mothergoddamn.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 11:53 am (UTC)(link)
Especially James from Pokemon:

"Here comes trouble, make it double"

Indeed.

[identity profile] rebness.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 11:48 am (UTC)(link)
Am getting onto that right now! :D

[identity profile] saffronlie.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 11:55 am (UTC)(link)
And then you could come online. Although 10.30pm is Will & Grace time. But I might have a half-hour window at 11pm before Scrubs.

What?

[identity profile] saffronlie.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 12:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose.

Never heard of the cartoon... And no to the eggs unless it was a specialty European shop.

[identity profile] rebness.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 11:35 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, thanks, Grace. It was one of those random thoughts that struck me and Had to be Satisfied.

[identity profile] silverthoughts.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
1. Not American but in Canada, they sold them only during Easter. So, when I moved to HK and they sold them 365 days a year I was in shock.

2. Never heard of it.

3. Power DVD. Not cheap but reliable. *cough*go pirate*cough*

[identity profile] rebness.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 11:37 am (UTC)(link)
That's really interesting. I'm reliably informed they're sold in Australia, Africa, of course, Europe and now Hong Kong. I wonder why they're not so readily available in the Americas?

Power DVD, eh? Thanks! I'll now go and try to get it. Legitimately, of course. Because piracy would be so bad. Oh, look! A flying pig!

[identity profile] silverthoughts.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
I wonder why they're not so readily available in the Americas?

Because they advertised them as "Easter Eggs".

I kind of liked it that they sold them once a year. It made them more cool and exciting to crack open that egg and get that crappy made in China plastic toy.

Now, the fun and mystery is gone when it's sold all the time.

[identity profile] rebness.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 11:47 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! I guess so. You're probably right-- it would add to the excitement of Easter. If you can get them every day of the year (with crappy plastic toy), it's not quite the same.

[identity profile] gairid.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
You can get Kinder Eggs in specialty stores, but I order them online for my daughtwer occasionally. She discovered them when were in Ireland visiting some family and friends and she loves them.

[identity profile] rebness.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 11:39 am (UTC)(link)
Aww. But you know what, right? They had an even *funkier* version in Greece that I've never seen in England before. Am going to have to hunt them down myself, I think.

[identity profile] zhonghua2000.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
1. Never heard of them until now. I have no idea what specialty stores would have Kinder Eggs either. (don't mention these to Jessica)

2. I have no idea about this cartoon and neither did my stepson, the one who knows every cartoony thing since time began. Sorry.

3. I dunno. I don't have a DVD thing on my computer. :(

[identity profile] rebness.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
DVDs on computers are the best thing ever. But to have it cruelly taken away is more than I can bear!

[identity profile] diana-molloy.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Eugh screen is too small imo - unless you're monitor is tv sized. Large tv sized. Also you can't slouch on an office chair.

Dream Warriers wasn't it? I had a crush on the Asian girl in it.

What?

[identity profile] mothergoddamn.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 10:34 am (UTC)(link)
No, that was apparently a Freddie Kruger filn according to Yahoo.

[identity profile] rebness.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
I'm afeared.

[identity profile] mothergoddamn.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 11:51 am (UTC)(link)
I'd tell you my feelings on the Asian skateboarder but they aren't printable. Probably how you feel about Droopy, yes?

[identity profile] rebness.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Droopy's not half as sexy. :(

[identity profile] mothergoddamn.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Speaking of sexy cartoons...
