MRSA is one of the superbugs called methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus. Its effects are more obvious in hospitals because of the sick people there have reduced immunity to the bugs, but they exist throughout the population. They have been produced by the overuse and abuse of antibiotics in human medicine and their overuse in agriculture eg chickens are given antibiotics to make them grow faster and bigger, so everyone gets a dose through the food they eat.
