I went along to the Petit Palais. I hadn't bothered with it previously because I didn't think there'd be much there, but I read an article before I went that talked of the great artworks there. Like so many things in Paris, the building is an opulent treat in itself. And it was free to get in -- huzzah! I'm of the opinion that the British model is best with museums -- free entry, with an opportunity to donate, though I'll make an exception for the Louvre. It's a nightmare on free days. Half the world seems to visit.

I came across this statue in the Petit Palais. It was so very striking. It's of Adam and Eve carrying Abel's body after he was slain by Cain. The expression on Adam's face, and Eve's maternal, protective grief just seems so raw. It's a great statue from all angles and now my favouritest evah, even above Michelangelo's Dying Slave.

Waah.

The Musee Carnavalet rocks. It's full of items from Paris' illustrous history, from remnants of the royal statues destroyed in the revolution to models of the Bastille to massive old street signs like this. I wouldn't have liked to walk alongside the shops in those days.

Bah. Not really... a replica of Napoleon's chambres at the Louvre. He may have been an angry midget, but he had quite good taste.

So I'm wandering around the Louvre as night falls when I come across this in the French painting section. He sort of reminds me of John Cusack, but above all, I was like, "He's so my Louis!" and took a picture of him. YES,

jaffacakequeen, he is! Louis is hawt and this man was hawt. Nur.

Then it was a trip up the Stairs o'D00m from my Montmartre flat to meet Chris at the Gare du Nord. He still owes me for that -- being harrassed by men at that time of night wasn't really very fun.
