If there's one thing I can't stand, it's sinister-faced, unfunny, drain-dwelling clowns. I just find them more terrifying than anything else. I suppose this is the reason behind my shameful initial reaction to the story detailed below, which ran along the lines of "Huh. Less clowns in the world. Result!":

Two circus clowns have been shot dead during a performance in the eastern Colombian city of Cucuta, police say.

The attacker jumped into the arena and fired before fleeing, police chief Jose Humberto Henao told Efe news agency.

Local reports say the audience of about 20 people, mostly children, thought the shooting was part of the show before realising both men had been killed...

I mentioned it to my mother this evening, who informed me that a clown in Germany had made the news today, in an apparent reversal of roles:

Kasper the Clown faces prison for punching schoolboy

As a child going to the circus, you might expect the clown to throw a bucket of confetti at you, or squirt you with water from the flower on his lapel.

You certainly wouldn't be prepared for him to grab you by the scruff of the neck, punch and kick you and leave you needing hospital treatment for cuts and bruises.

As these astonishing pictures show, that's what happened when 12-year-old Amos Lutz met Kaspar the Clown at a circus in Leipzig, Germany...

I feel like making a joke about it not even being silly season in the media, but I won't, because clowns are never, ever funny and should never be encouraged, ever. >:(

I have only one comment about that picture. What the hell were those adults in the background doing, just staring as the creep attacked the poor kid. *shakes head*

It's even worse in the next picture. They actually turn away as the psycho clown continues beating him.

Also, what's the icon quoting from? Je suis curious. :D

Don't trust anyone who says anything nice about clowns. *Rocks back and forth a la Bart Simpson*

The icon is from that awesome Black Books episode where Fran lands a job and doesn't know exactly what she's supposed to be doing, so sits there typing stupid things on Word. Which I've done in the same position. Ahahaha. >:D

Aha, haven't seen that one! But I have found BB repeats nightly on't telly, so that should soon change. I also discovered my friend [livejournal.com profile] willtoburn loves the show, so I've directed her to the credits in your and my userinfos to help her find the best icon sources.

I think IT planted the seeds of terror in my head as a child. :(

(That's what I got for sneaking downstairs to watch 18 films. Ahahaha.)

Your niece is obviously clued-up on clowns and their child beating/arm-pulling/stupid balloon animal-making menace.
