O hay Flist girls,

So because I've grown sick of eating badly (yes, nothing but pasta for lunch and dinner just because someone else cooks it for you is not such a good idea), I've been following a salad regime for the last week, aided and abetted by Hannah. It was meant to be salad for all meals save breakfast, but that got old -- just salad for the main meal, which is pretty fun, actually. I like salads. >:

My other big obsession right now is my skin, kind of prompted by the sun destruction thing. Now, I take quite good care of my skin normally - exfoliating with Garnier mint scrub, moisturising with coconut butter and such, but I want to give it a bit of rejuvenation for spring and the increasingly lovely weather. I tried the whole avocado-based face mask thing a while back, but as my skin is kind of oily anyway (though not prone to spots), I ended up breaking out in some wonderful Vesuvian-esque spots.

Does anyone know of any good natural remedies or rejuvenation techniques for skin? I like the idea of a facial mask or something as we're having a girls' night tomorrow, replete with Bridget Jones and dark chocolate, but it can't be something that's going to cause a mass break-out the way the avocado did. My skin is Irish White and smooth, quite sensitive, but I'm not allergic to anything cosmetic or fruity or what have you.

Advice, plz.

beauty care from your kitchen.

1.Oatmeal. It's a wonderful scrub, just moisten and use like scrubbing clay. If you pulverize it into a powder in a blender or food processor, mix honey into it and thin it down - use milk (dairy or soy) if your skin is sensitive or dry, use lemon juice if your skin is oily.

2.Honey is a wonderful mask for all skin types. Just smooth it on and leave it between 5 and 30 minutes.

3.Cucumbers or teabags on closed eyelids is very refreshing.

4.Try washing your hair with conditioner instead of shampoo for a couple of weeks to moisturize and give it life.

I love the idea of the oatmeal/honey combo - I'll definitely give it a try. Thanks!

My hair definitely needs rejuvenating, too. I'll try to follow the conditioner-only approach for a bit and let you know how it works.

It's totally worth it, I have very trickly skin and AoBS is great on it.

Lush has a really bad effect upon me - I wander in, dazed and taking in all the scents, leaving £50 poorer five minutes later and aching for a bath. Mmm.

It's the same with me. I got £50 of Lush vouchers for Christmas, so my last visit there I only paid £7 for a bag full of goodies, I was most pleased with myself ;D

Saves me mentioning it. Also Ultrabland for taking make up off, and ANY of the masks. If you bump into someone salivationg over the buttercreams in the Liverpool branch that will be me.

I tried a trial size pot of Ultrabland and it is very good.

I was about to start blathering a bunch of stuff but realized it would be easier to direct you to [community profile] naturalliving. Go to their memories and you will find loads of info.

Well, hey, thanks for the link. I checked out the memories and they have some really good detox advice.

You're welcome.

It's a great community. Some of the members go a little overboard with the natural stuff IMO but still, easy to scroll by that kind of stuff. You never know when something useful might come up.

I've spent hours and hours going through the memories on all kinds of things.

Oh, man. I am jonesing for new Clinique products (I keep getting emails about bonus time at nearby stores, and I will need some more clarifying lotion soon, but I can't really justify buying another product to qualify for the bonus... but I love Clinique bonus time...) so I guess I'll just put some avocado on my face instead.

Oh, Clinique. Why do you smell so damned good and cost so much? W

The only thing I know about skin is that vitamin E cream is good for scars, and that's not what you're looking for.

However, I do know that Mysterious Cities of Gold is now out on DVD as a complete box set. There was an ad in Fortean Times. :D

Actually, I need some vitamin E treatment on my arm where Louise's asshat rabbit decided to mark me in some kind of homage to Efrafa.

YOU HAVE MADE MY WEEK. *Points to icon frantically*

Believe it or not my skin is so sensitive to products, I've been told to just use plain Ivory soap. Of course that's very drying so I spend time with fragrance free, dye free, everything free moisturizers.

I can attest to the condition only thing for the hair though except I never did that more than a few days. Another is actually sitting around with a deep conditioner in your hair for about a half hour which is something I really need to do because of all that hair colouring damage I do.

In the sun I actually use sunscreen. :)

I am terrible with deep conditioners - my patience wears so thin so quickly, but am currently trying the conditioner-only thing. Shall let you know how it goes. (Exciting!)

I read you were sick of eating baldy... ?!?

Dark chocolate seems hardly good for the skin.

Dark chocolate is actually really good for you - rich in antioxidants.

sleep, loads of sleep and no alcholol.

and a bath with E45 oil, but not to much. and a old fashioned toner helps perk the face skin up.
