Had yet another busy weekend, when all I wanted to do was to take it slow. We have the builders in from today, so I had to move just about everything out of my room and into the interior spare bedroom, which I hate. Lack of natural light for ten days is going to be a killer.

Yesterday, we had a barbecue, which was good times, if hectic. I'll have to put some pics up tonight.

I just don't think I'm getting much rest at all. Working long, intense hours, catching up with friends and constantly rearranging the flat. This weekend, I'm going to England to see my family straight after work and then will spend the couple of days there shopping and catching up with family. It's a hard life, bbs, but someone has to do it.

And then there's last night's Oscars! I am so, so pleased that Slumdog Millionaire took best picture. What a great film! Spent half the time watching it hiding behind the cushion and the other half cheering. I'm glad Kate Winslet finally got an Oscar and cannot believe that the Academy actually did the right thing and awarded Penelope Cruz best supporting actress for Vicky Cristina Barcelona. She's absolutely the best thing about that film and fully deserves the plaudits. Heath Ledger's victory is a fitting, if bittersweet, legacy.

Hectic day continues with payroll sign-off and then, for some absolutely crazy reason, I'm going to a language exchange tonight which is going to be composed of a Spanish-Italian, an Italian and my Anglo-Italian flatmate. Hmm, I wonder which is going to be the lingua franca tonight. >:/

Whatcha building, bb? A gift-wrapping room?

You gotta say no sometimes and take time for yourself if that's what you need! The end.

The Oscars is the one time of year when we are totally gypped Down Under. They air the show Monday night, by which point I already know all the winners from teh internets. So I don't even feel like having an opinion.

I think we're building a restaurant! All I know is, it's coming between me and my precious, precious sleep. ROAR!

Chris said I have a chronic problem in saying no. Boo. :(

Yeah, in years gone by, I would stay up to watch the Oscars. Now nothing comes between me and my sleep on a Sunday night. Except builders.

Actually I probably would have watched it this year, for Hugh and all. But I went to a pub instead! Because I also cannot say no. But then, I only have three friends in Sydney, so I gotta take my social life wherever I can get it.

Not being able to say no and lack of sleep are something I know all too well. I need to take a few days off and disappear but every time I think about it there is more work to be done.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm finding it really hard to book my holidays - not because I don't have time to take, but because I really do need to be here on certain days of the month and don't dare leave my work to someone else. Hmph.
