rebness: (RoA: Fuck You)

What a great year for British television. What a terrible year for just about everything else. 2009, it's time to sum you up as if I were weighing your heart against a feather. (Be prepared for Ammit, just saying.)

What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
- Visited Africa
- Visited Malta, Andorra and the Netherlands
- Went on a cruise
- Lived alone
- Visited a spa
- Tried a space cake
- Prepared lobster (:p)
- Ran through a field of perplexed sheep in Wales
- Danced awkwardly at a theatre
- Had a heated argument in another language
- Loved winter

Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I did, actually. This year I have decided not to make resolutions because they're trite.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope.

Did anyone close to you die?
Same answer as last year. I don’t care if there are only a few hours left till New Year; I shall not answer this question.

Which countries did you visit?
Andorra, Netherlands, Tunisia, Wales, Italy (first time for Sicily), Malta, Ireland, Greece (x2)

What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
Love for the year.

Three Enduring Memories of 2009:
* Several warm summer days on the terrace

* Hannah telling me to wake up and seeing Malta's ancient walled city coming into view, shimmering in golden morning sunlight.

* Standing in pouring rain at a park in Liverpool, joining thousands of people energetically singing along to a Queen tribute band. Fantastic.

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Making hard decisions.

What was your biggest failure?
There were a good few (it was, after all, 2009).

Did you suffer illness or injury?
Le grr. >:

What was the best thing you bought?
These shoes I'm wearing now. Bargain!

Where did most of your money go?
On crazy things and travel. I do not regret it.

Which songs will always remind you of 2009?
Volare by Dean Martin.

What do you wish you'd done more of?
Again, same as 2008: Not fretted over transitory things.

What do you wish you'd done less of?
Fretting over transitory things. :p Chasing cockroaches with a frying pan.

How did you spend Christmas?
With my family. I cooked a fantastic dinner, but wasn't all that hungry because I had refrained from drinking most of the day. Bah. I also had a really good talk with my aunt and realised some good things.

What were your favourite TV programmes?
Being Human. I love this show and can't wait for the next series in January 2010!
Dexter - still devastated from that finale.
The Inbetweeners
- great show about 17-year-old boys at school. It is not as lame as it sounds. It's mean-spirited and cruel and funny:

Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I shall be frank: yes. Usually I'm all, 'Oh, but it's bad Karma to hate and detrimental to the soul' and all that trash, but two people have sucked majorly and it would be false of me to pretend I am all sunshine and smiles about everything. One I have nothing but disdain for and the cut was absolutely necessary; the other I will punch in the face if I ever see her again. Not likely to happen, though. :p

Book of the Year:
I'm struggling to think of one. I read a lot this year and some books were brilliant, but I can't really recall. How about The Count of Monte Cristo? Okay, so it's hardly a discovery, but it was a lot of fun and kept me on the edge of my seat. :D

Musical Discovery of the Year:
Uh... Lady Gaga? But everyone discovered her this year.

What did you want and get?
Dunno. I haven't really wanted for anything this year, which is a good thing.

What did you want and not get?
Again, I didn't really need anything.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 28. I was at a spa in Andorra (Caldea, it's pretty famous, but then Andorra is one giant snowy shopping mall) and relaxing in a hot pool in the snow. It was very, very good times.

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Stability.

Who was the best new person you met?
So many people. Carl and Chris, who now live in my old flat. Two of the nicest, most gentlemanly people I've ever met. Kate, whom I have apparently met before, but is lovely. Judy, who looked after me in Greece and writes these sincere and erudite e-mails.

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009.
Fuck feelings in business. Go with your instincts.

Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Now that you're out of my life I'm so much better.

Hay, 2009:
You absolutely sucked. I can't believe what a terrible year you have been, for so many people around me, as well. Thanks for today's surprises of having the heating switched off until tonight and then the microwave burning out. Fantastic stuff. Also, the dead pool got old, fast. Perhaps you'll spring a surprise celeb death on us at 11.59pm: it's just your style.

2010:
I have a feeling that there may be grief for me in 2010, at least with regard to my little dog who has been rather poorly. I have to accept this, however. I have nine months of this coming year to feck about as I want before I have to be sensible, and I will. Here's to travel outside my comfort zone, England and good times with good people.

What do you wish you'd done more of?
Again, same as 2008: Not fretted over transitory things.

What do you wish you'd done less of?
Fretting over transitory things. :p

Forget it. It's genetically programmed, know what I mean? ♥

Boy 2009 pretty much sucked all around for everyone. But there were moments of hope and shininess as well, usually provided by kind words, some lolz, and amazing friends. Here's to 2010, where the plan is for me to make it to London, finally, and thus Liverpool, and thus you. So I dont know what your plans are but for September or October, you better be in Liverpool cuz I'm going to be there and we have to meet : )

I don't think I've ever seen so many people (in my own circle) uniformly hate a year so much.

OMG! YES! Come to Liverpool! You're more than welcome and I am sure [livejournal.com profile] mothergoddamn and I could get you into a scrape or two. :D :D

Happy New Year! <3

It's strange that I think we conversed all of three times this year, yet you remain one of my fav people. Here's to lots of travel and good times in 2010.
