They would not, at least not for political reason, because when they took the Bastille, there were just 7 inmates in it: 2 nutters, a perv and 4 counterfeiters (I vaguely remembered from school there was just a handful of losers in the place and checked online) Hell of a historical event :)

Yep, 'tis true. Although parading the gaolers' heads on sticks after that epic(!) rescue was a nice touch.

I think, at least during the initial waves of revolution, the minor nobility were simply slaughtered in the provinces.
