I've been hideously busy in the run-up to Christmas, what with work demanding my time and some fun weekends. Last weekend, I went down to Birmingham with [livejournal.com profile] jaffacakequeen to see the German Christmas markets and [livejournal.com profile] ladydaydream. It was a lot of fun to just catch up and natter away about what we've been doing. I've missed both of them. Let's catch up more in 2011, ladies.

I managed to avoid the office Christmas party as it was also scheduled for that weekend. I don't know how I'll avoid crying about it, but a girl must be tough.

With Christmas presents, my cunning plan was to avoid the terror (and, for one who hates crowds and the general population at large as I do, it's terror) of high-street shopping, I decided that everyone will get presents from Amazon this year.

Except my cunning plan appears to have fallen through, too! I get paid at midnight tonight. Amazon's last orders for pre-Christmas delivery? 23:59 tonight.

So, even if Amazon doesn't have any more crashes because of Anonymous and even if the post doesn't come to a grinding halt because of the crazy freezing weather we're having, good old Christmas post will put paid to it. Good thing my friends and relatives know I'm a huge flake, so it won't come as a surprise to get their presents in March or something.

I'm trying to post more about My Life and less about existentialist rage as per the grumblings of [livejournal.com profile] jaffacakequeen. I'll get there eventually.

I need you to help me get out of my office Christmas party in which management is trying to force the workers to either sing Karaoke or do a dance competition thing. It's a little to 'step and fetch it' for me, and I dont like these folks anyway. Help.

I did Amazon this year as well, and one quick trip to the Target in which I spent too much money and came home with not enough gifts.

Gee, I cannot imagine why you might've wished to avoid an office Christmas party. :P

That stinks about Amazon! I've done the same thing so many times...in fact, this is the first year EVER that I've bought a single present before December even began (sadly, I thought that meant I was off to a rockin' head start...but I've yet to buy gifts for 2/3 of the people on my list. *sigh*)

If it is books or DVDs you were buying from Amazon, why not get a hold of a bookshop Christmas catalogue or check their on-line site if the books/DVDs are sold in their shops. Go in, give the shop assistant your list and tell them, "Can you help me find these please?"

I did that a few weeks ago and got my Xmas shopping done in 30 minutes flat.

What's wrong with expressing a bit of existentialist rage now and then?

I gave up work Christmas functions years ago. I never acquired the taste for alcohol of any type and it gets boring watching the drunks behave well like drunks and you can only drink so much soft drink.

im off on our christmas lunch today, a chinese buffet for 6.95. i wont be drinking, and i will leave at the first opportunity there is only so much small talk of 'what are you doing for christmas..' bllllaaa

however, i do wish for those old fashioned office parties where people get drunk and photocopy their bums. it never happens any more, people panic about alcohol on the premises. 'boo'
