When last we left our heroes, they were setting off along the pretty Ramblas to find somewhere to eat. We found the prettiest, most lovely square ever, Plaza Reial. It was overwhelmingly lovely, with shuttered windows and palm trees and restaurants.

We were going to try some tapas, but instead somehow wound up with a large pitcher of Sangria and a couple of lovely (and very substantial) dishes. Indeed, just about everything we tried over there was really tasty, and God knows I'm fussy with a lot of food.

Catalan cuisine is quite an eclectic combination of French, Spanish and Galician fusion, so that a typical menu dish was rabbit Catalan with snails. The food there was excellent, as adventurous and unique as French cuisine, as inexpensive as Greek.

Some of the dishes we had were great-- I tried goat in deference to [livejournal.com profile] verastar99 and found it to be extremely tasty and nicer than lamb. I couldn't convince Pen about the yumminess of snails, so she went with chicken instead-- again, cooked in a very tasty sauce.

And so, another . Rainy fun! La Rambla Um...yeah. It was very dark by that time-- it was after midnight, after all. We became a little wary as we started to walk past signs advertising "Peep Show" and "LIVE SEX!!!" more and more often, so we headed back to the hotel for a good night's kip.

The next day, we were up bright and early (well, Pen was. I still felt rubbishy) and set off to go and do some Gaudi stuff. We had breakfast at a quaint little café before setting off to see the famous Sagrada Familia cathedral.

However, we were distracted en-route by further Gaudi madness/genius. Whichever. Behold!

Hello, there. I'm a crazy roof!

This is part of . colourful

And here's...

Ooh, all freaky, like

Pen at one of his weird doors inside the building. He did not believe that buildings should be rigid, boring-- but rather, they should copy nature. The house was like some magical cave-- very beautiful, very...different.

Is all lovely and weird, like.

After all that Gaudiness (hee) before the day had even started properly, I was feeling a bit peaky again and, because I was feeling very dehydrated and a little dizzy after visiting Gaudi's Ballo house (not Gaudi's fault), we had to visit a McDonald's to buy some liquid sugar. Uh, I mean a soft drink.

Bloody hell

Every. Single. Spaniard. who walked past that picture regarded it with a mixture of bemusement and disgust. I mean, really.

Despite this, even the dreaded Place o’D00m could not take away from the overwhelming excellence of the Sagrada Familia, ohohoho…

:p You are! But you're European (or, should I say British? I never know what will offend one and not the other), and everyone is just little and could fit in my pocket.

Hmm, I wonder if there's a twisted story in that? Like Lilliputians ... *evil*

It's meant with complete love and affection. :p

WENCH!!

Also, there's a high influx of your island nation dwellers to my fair (read: cold but sunny) city. Is it the skiing? Because - y'all have the ALPS!

British people can be so dumb. We have the lovely, fair alps in Europe, but will travel to America because OMG It's So Much More Exotic.

Though I'd go to where you live, if only to kidnap you and Becks and plant you in my garden. I'd be the coolest kid on the block, with some pet Americans.
