Today was Self-Improvement Day. This is one of those days I have, every few months, whereby I become alarmed at my schedule revolving around work, pub and internet, realise that there are a thousand things I want to do before I'm thirty, so I'd better make a head start. (Six years is certainly not long enough for my lazy arse.)

I tackled five things today, which was good going.

1. Exercise
Fifteen minutes counts, right?

2. Latin
I bought a funky 1800s Latin dictionary and grammar book previously owned by some girl with elegant script writing and, then in 1932, some guy at Oxford. I thought it suitable for my pretentious pre-30 needs and learned myself some more Latin today. Eventus stultorum magister! (Er, quite.)

3. Finish that sekrit non-VC fic
Not quite accomplished, but I wrote a page or so.

4. Write more novel
I filled in the name of a battlefield and added some locations?

5 Get brother to teach me some more Italian
That's to come. If I make an ANGRY post later, it'll be because he'll be telling me about how I'm not getting the pronunciation down properly, and I'll be instead thinking of a beer.

I was just giving you hell. Latin was my language of choice for years! It helped me IMMENSELY with English and later French (go fig - a Latin-based language). Although on the Remus point, you don't need Latin to figure that one out. A basic knowledge of Roman myths will do you ;)

There was a study done not too long ago in Australia on which signs are the worst drivers. Guess who's not in the top three? That's right - AQUARIANS. :D (Although, Taurus is, so don't drive with [livejournal.com profile] saffronlie if you can help it.)

You know what's really weird? I didn't pick up on Remus until HBP. No, really. And Romulus and Remus was one of my favourite myths. D'oh! To be fair, my brother always called our dog something like Lupus Sphinxus Tedescus (sp?) and so I instantly thought "wolf" when I was introduced to Lupin.

Oh noes!! But [livejournal.com profile] saffronlie offered to be EuroDriver for my planned European road trip. I bet she won't have a tendency to start daydreaming, as erm... I did. During a test. Which I susequently failed. >:
