Landan, innit

So. London. You know, Southerners often refer to the "Watford Gap" and how North of all that is no-man's land, a barren wasteland of grey soggy pies n'mash, and people more interested in Corrie than theatre. But you know what? I love the North. I love nuclear green mushy peas. I love haggis, and little auld ladies shouting at scally children, bigger and nicer houses for less money and Manchester and Liverpool and all that stuff. Pshaw! London ain't for me!
Except that this time, I found myself falling in love with London. The underground seemed exciting and cosmopolitan. Spanish and Italian and German and French was spoken everywhere, and some of the architecture was amazing. I don't know... I can usually just ignore London, but I found myself seduced by it this time-- having decided I'm definitely a city person-- and hmm. I wouldn't be averse to living there for a while, even if I know I'll always be a Northern lass in me heart, like. setting_sun, I did find cheese and onion pies-- at Euston-- for £3.49! Three feckin' quid for a pie? Begorrah!
Anyway! The weekend was fab. It was a haze of tube journeys, wandering through King's Cross to find patchworkgirl_ and actually keeping a look-out for a certain platform, shamefully... there was absinthe, and plenty of it. There were bands, and a liason with the lead singer of Luxembourg that is hardly as sordid as it may sound, and dancing to Franz and watching an Ibsen play whilst mortally tired and then some.
patchworkgirl_ came back to mine for a Luxembourg-esque lias... I mean, to serve as a stop-gap before she went home the next day, and yeah. It was good.
I dunno. We managed to fit an awful lot into a few days, and I was still tired going into work this morning, but I don't care. Good stuff.
Still haven't managed to remind New!Boss that I'm off to Venice in two days. Ah, well. Have been learning some more Italian today and what's this? Why, the vague kick of excitement at seeing a new place just walloped me. Huzzah! Sono felice!
