I recorded three patient deaths at work today. What a most edifying welcome back. However, there were Pringles left over from the Christmas party to soothe the vicarious grief. One has to look on the bright side of these things.

My paid account has run out, but my panicked expectation to see my journal all uglified this evening proved unfounded. It looks exactly the same! What kind of incentive is that for me to give you some hard-earned British pounds, Eljay? Granted, I can only use six icons for now, but *eh*. It can wait till January. It's not like I'll die without any polls, and besides! Free account users can do polls, too!

(Prove me right!)

Me, I like a good Camembert.

For feck's sake! They've taken my Gyllenhaal icon away. >:|

It's pathetic that I only pay them for the icon space. However, your most excellent free poll has given me an opportunity to break in this new icon that I think I like a lot, so I'd just like to say "medium cheddar". :)

The worst thing, the icons were my main reason, too. Hee!

Harvarti!

I'm always doing custom styles and heavily use the Scrapbook feature, so for me a paid account is vitally important.

It was destined never to really get to me, seeing as how I have to look under the FAQ section every time I want to make an eljay cut. No, really. ;)

That's the spirit!

I made sure to redo my layout while I had a paid account a while back because I knew that I'd end up keeping it once it reverted back to free status. The only reason why I decided to pay up again is the icon thing, but now they've doubled the free userpic limit, which pretty much takes care of all incentives for me to pay LJ. :S

Damn! I didn't think of doing that! Granted, I didn't try customising it because I thought I'd lose the features of the style when my paid accoutn expired, but I'll know for next time.

Baby Swiss. As opposed to Mommy or Daddy Swiss.

At Hospital "Work" deaths. :( I know!

How can you LIVE with only 6 icons?! :p

Baby Swiss?

(I dunt know, but I need my "Bloody hell!" icon back. For example, I should have used it for this reply and instead of Gyllenhaal, you can have Dunst.)

I saw a guy who looks like Jake Gyllenhaal the other night! The end.

We have a kind of cheese in Australia called "tasty". I think it's a kind of cheddar. But my Canadian friend has this story about when she first came to Australia and was buying cheese and couldn't believe it that there were all these cheeses in the supermarket called Tasty. She wondered if that meant all the other cheeses tasted bad. But then she bought some, and ate a piece, and it was pretty tasty, so that's logical.

I like different cheeses for different kinds of things. What's up with bocconcini, by the way? It has no taste. Is that its purpose? To take on the flavour of whatever it is paired with? I need to learn more about cheese.

"Tasty" cheese seems like an overly confident brand. >:|

I envy you seeing the Gyllenhaal-esque man, but then I don't, because I'd probably be up on a molestation charge right now.

No, no, tasty is not a brand, it's a kind of cheese. Like Camembert. Tasty. Sharp tasty cheese. Mature tasty cheese. Tasty tasty tasty.

Yeah, I don't know who's messing with the Australian cheese market, but I bet they think they're funny.

Camembert.

The first time I ever tried camembert, I was living in Germany. The cheese was Le Rustique brand from Normandy. I wondered then if I had ever tasted anything so vile. A couple months later I was conpelled, for reasons unknown, to try it again. And waddaya know? I loved it. The stinkier, the better.

It is! There's something decadent about stinky cheese, and I loves it.

Goat's cheese, Bleu d'Auvergne and Cheddar, and Wensleydale (but local stuff that's not made in the Hawes Wallace & Gromit factory, as that's too crumbly and mass-produced).

I don't think I've had bleu d'Auvergne, but I'll keep a look-out for it on my next Gallic trip. Or, you know, when I next go to Tesco.

Speaking of Wallace and Gromit, have you tried Stinking Bishop? My courage fails me with that cheese.

Um... whatever it is that's on top of Goodfellas plain pizzas. I'm not a great cheese fan because it always seems too strong without something to balance it...

Um, I came back to three deaths as well. One was only thirty. :o Holidays seem to bring out the end of life in people.

We've had several fetal demises this month.

Really, I think working at the hospital makes you see, rather intensely if you ask me, just how many people are born and die in any given thirty day period. And the deaths really span across the age line. I'm trying to work on not letting it bother me. So far, it bothers me.

From: [identity profile] rebness.livejournal.com
It has made me hideously aware of death, and when I had thought mortality didn't bother me, it's something that eats away at me an awful lot more, now. I'm painfully aware of how often, how quick and brutal death is no matter what age we are. I've recorded the deaths of two classmates in the past year, and um... I don't think I deal with it very well.
